There will be a very short fireworks show this year but to be set off before parade reaches broadcast booth. This is for safety of those riding horses not to spook them. At this time the horses will still be safely in the area of the street department and won’t take parade route until long after fireworks have been shot. The location of fireworks will be on the road beside the former Hype Fitness/Agee building and beside Community Trust bank.

If you don’t won’t to be exposed to the loud sirens by fire trucks, etc participating in the parade stand in a location that is not near a red light. Under all lights is where they sound sirens.

No Santa’s or Mrs. Clauses of ANY KIND as this will confuse children. We will have one Santa and Mrs. Clause at the end of parade on the big float.

Unless a vehicle is over 25 years old and completely restored it can’t participate in the parade as an auto entry unless it belongs to one of our registered auto clubs. Cars must also be decorated at least a little bit. Autos used for businesses, civic, candidate and schools to transport participants through parade are exceptions to this.

Horse winner this year will be awarded $50.00  Horses will be judged at 5:30 sharp and will be judged upon cleanliness of horse and tack, ribbons, bells, lights, etc.  You must ride your horse through parade in order to win horse award. All horse participants will need to go to the street department area behind the Y-12 building (It’s a gated area) for unloading and holding. The gate will be open.

You may bring your float in to line up at LaFollette Elementary School  as early as noon.

As always there will also be a Downtown Merchant decoration award given Thursday night before the parade and blue ribbon placed on door for appreciation. Winner will be announced during parade. Thank you

Commercial Float Judging will begin/take place at 4:15 sharp. Floats must be in place and all accessorizing completed at this time. Floats must be pre-registered. Due to extremely high attendance with participation  we need safety walkers along sides of float to assure spectator children don’t get too close to  moving traffic. For every 20 ft of float at least one safety walker. Float team leaders please select a few volunteers for this task if you have a larger float. Thank you. Our children are top priority and their safety is our first concern.

The Reason for the Season Award is a category entered into by choice only if your church or church youth group is working with a smaller budget but you still wish to compete for a cash prize. The Reason for the Season award is $500.00 and judging begins at the same time as commercial floats  which is 4:15 pm. Please indicate on entry form if this category is what you wish to enter in. Otherwise all contestants registering for cash prize will go to the regular commercial entry by default.

Winners of float categories will be announced immediately following safety meeting at 5:30 in LES gym.
